“The secured communications solutions cluster”, a catalyst for skills and innovation

With technology evolving ever faster, successful companies are those which spend today devising, planning and building solutions capable of meeting tomorrow’s challenges. In Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, industrialists, researchers and academics in the domains of microelectronics, software, telecommunications and multimedia have decided to pool their skills and expertise into an international cluster known as: “Solutions Communicantes Securisées: from silicon to its uses”.

Favouring cooperation rather than isolation, synergy rather than competition and anticipation rather than imitation, they aim to create 24,000 jobs within ten years, adding to the 41,000 ICT jobs currently existing in the region. By encouraging and promoting new research and evelopment projects, Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur aims to become the most dynamic and attractive centre for innovation in Europe.

The Solutions Communicantes Securisées cluster is destined to cater comprehensively for the design, manufacture, integration and sale of ICT gadgetry which will invade our daily lives in the short to medium future. The site brings together over 330 businesses led by international leaders in their respective fields: Alcatel Space, Amadeus, Atmel, Atos Origin, France Télécom, Gemplus, HP, IBM, Philips, SAP, STMicroelectronics, Texas Instruments… More than one hundred cooperative research-industry programmes are already under way or being planned. Their results will revolutionise approaches to thinking and doing worldwide, in every sector: mobile communications, digital identity, goods and people tracking, smart cards, connectivity, data security, new medias, risk management, health, home automation, tourism, environment, logistics, knowledge management, etc.
